Details |
The day skipper theory course is a comprehensive introduction to chart
work, navigation, meteorology and the basics of seamanship for
Competent crew.
It is recommended you take this shorebased course before you take the
Day Skipper Practical course, as it arms would be skippers with enough
knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day.
You will find this course invaluable if you want to learn how to start
making decisions on board.
This course is primarily aimed at people with little or no existing
knowledge of navigation, chartwork or meteorology. However more
seasoned sailors may also find the course of great interest, if they have
not yet obtained a Day Skipper Shorebased pass certificate.
Ulster Sailing School run this course either as an evening class, a five
day intensive course or over three weekends.
The course fee includes your Day Skipper Theory Packs, Day Skipper
Theory Book, Practice Navigation Tables, Portland Plotter, Dividers,
2B Pencil, Rubber, and Pencil Sharpener. |
Ability After Course |
The syllabus arms would be skippers with enough
knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day. A basic knowledge
of lights is also included - in case they arrive back late. |
